Crowl Marketing/Creative Acquires Covey-Odell Advertising

NORTH CANTON, OH—Two long-established advertising and marketing firms have joined forces. In a joint announcement, Rod McGregor of Crowl Marketing/Creative and Rod A. Covey of Covey-Odell Advertising are combining their agencies under the Crowl banner. Effective Sept. 1, the combined agency will be headquartered in the Crowl building located at 713 S. Main Street in North Canton.

Crowl Marketing/Creative was founded in 1959 by Ray Crowl, becoming Crowl Montgomery & Clark, Inc. in 1981 under the leadership of Ray’s son Jeff and his business partner, Mark Clark. Rod McGregor, a long-time Crowl employee, purchased the agency from Jeff in 2007.

Covey & Koons, Inc., was born in 1967 from the partnership of William Roderic Covey and Richard Koons, two former employees of the Timken Company advertising department. Rod A. Covey joined the firm in 1979 and purchased the Covey & Koons agency in 2004.

McGregor sees the move as an opportunity to capitalize on each agency’s unique skills and strengths. Crowl Marketing/Creative is focused on retail/consumer advertising, automotive aftermarket and digital marketing, whereas Covey-Odell is an established business-to-business agency with expertise in media planning and public relations.

“The great thing about this merger is both agencies have different account bases and different services,” McGregor said. “It’s a good match that will have a positive effect on existing and future clients looking to grow their businesses.”
